I joined the Johannesson Lab in March 2026 to undertake a PhD in Fungal Genetics. My fascination with filamentous organisms began early in my studies and has only deepened as I’ve worked with them in both academic and applied contexts. My previous research experience involved working with oomycetes and their interactions with plants. I am now shifting focus to the Basidiomycete phylum, particularly the fairy ring–forming species Marasmius oreades, by exploring the mechanisms involved in early germline sequestration.
