I am a mycologist interested in the systematics, evolution and diversification of fungi. My research has focused on understanding why some fungal lineages are exceptionally species-rich, with particular emphasis on mushroom-forming fungi and the traits that influence their diversification rates. I have also studied the genomes of mycorrhizal fungi to understand how these organisms have evolved in association with their plant hosts and how different gene families support nutrient exchange and mineral weathering. By integrating approaches from evolutionary biology, genomics, and ecology, my research aims to reveal some of the hidden complexities of fungi.
