Johannesson Lab at Stockholm University

Fungal Genome Evolution

The Johannesson lab, led by professor Hanna Johannesson, is placed at the Department of Ecology, Environment and Plant Sciences at Stockholm University. Our lab conducts research using fungi as model systems to explore fundamental evolutionary questions such as individuality, genetic conflict, multilevel selection, and the drivers of genetic variation and adaptation. As tools we use a wide range of methods such as comparative genomics, metagenomics, population genetics, bioinformatics, and laboratory experiments.

Our Research

Our Research

We have several ongoing research projects at the Johannesson lab. Our way of conducting research means that there is often overlap between projects. While the boundaries between projects are not always clear, the main directions of our currently ongoing work can be summarized as the following, in no particular order.

Our Team

Our Team

Today, we are 13 members in the team. In addition to our PI, we are researchers, PhD-students, master students and support persons – both for bioinformatics and laboratory work. We comprise a mix of Swedish and international team members, each with our own unique skillset.
